CONCEPT AND FORMAT OF THE BORDEAUX FLUORINE DAYS
It is our pleasure to announce that the 4th International Symposium on Organofluorine Compounds in Biomedical, Organic Materials and Agriculture Sciences (“Bordeaux Fluorine Days”), will be held in Bordeaux, France, from July 6-10, 2014. This symposium follows the successful editions held in Perugia, Italy (2001 and 2010) and Valencia, Spain (2012).
The unique properties of the fluorine atom and carbon-fluorine bonds have made that the study of fluorinated organic chemicals is nowadays a major research topic in both academia and industry laboratories. Organofluorine chemistry is a very active research field which finds important applications in the design of new pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, polymers, surfactants or radiochemicals, amongst others.
The aim of the Bordeaux Fluorine Days is to provide an overview of current directions in all aspects of organic fluorine chemistry. The Symposium is addressed primarily to scientists of the “Organofluorine Community”, although it will also open to those interested in the potential of fluorine in their own research. An attendance of 100-150 chemists is expected, and the scientific program will include plenary lectures (45 min), invited lectures (30 min) and poster presentations. A social program, highlighting the cultural and geographical heritage of the city of Bordeaux and the Aquitaine region, will be organized for the conference attendees and accompanying persons.
